Bhakti Movement and Teachings: Term Bhakti meaning,which comes to mean “devotion” or “love” in later literature, is one of the central concepts of Hinduism. It describes that side of Indian religion in which the personal engagement of a devotee with a personally conceived divinity is understood to be the core of the religious life.
Bhakti movement in Hinduism refers to ideas and engagement that emerged in the medieval era on love and devotion to religious concepts built around one or more gods and goddesses. Bhakti movement preached against the caste system using the local languages so that the message reached the masses.
Founder of Bhakti Movement:
Shankaracharya: The leader of this Hindu revivalist movement was Shankaracharya, a great thinker and a distinguished philosopher. And this movement was propounded by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Namadeva, Tukaram, Jayadeva. The movement's major achievement was its abolition of idol worship.
The Bhakti Teachings:
1. All human beings are equal Hindus and Muslims were not created by God.
2. Selfless love and devotion bring a person close to god.
3. Purity of heart and mind is important.
4. Share others’ pain as helping fellow human beings is the true test of Bhakti.
5. A devotee should express Bhakti through devotional music.

Importance of Bhakti Movement: The most important social impact of the Bhakti movement was that the followers of the Bhakti movement rejected the caste distinction. They began to mix together on the basis of equality. They took their meals together from the common kitchen. The movement tried to loosen the bond of caste.
